Blankets and the insanity associated with them

Both my girls have a blanky and then one one day Aunt Net comes to visit with this blanket that she bought on the plane trip over and Derek loved it. He was not a binkie baby or a thumb sucker so I guess he needed something. But it cracks me up how much it means to him. Occasionally we have to wash it. I mean a two year old boy dragging this thing through the jungle and back yeah we wash it! But home boy does not handle the process well. I try to distract him with candy, books, a movie, cars ect.. But he can't leave the laundry room till its all clean and back in his arm. In the interest of time I choose to only show you the drying process but trust me he stays and cries through the whole process. I don't stay with him and console him. I usually read US Weekly and have a bowl of Lucky Charms or pluck my eye brows. I can honestly say I have been through bigger hardships than having my blanket washed so I find it a little immature :P

Oh boy. I know this process all too well. Both of my kids are attached to Gymboree Blankets. I specifically bought tons of them so I would have "extra" but wouldn't you know Joselyn has named one of them her "favorite" and she could pretty much care less about the other ones although they are pretty much the same. It's very hard to pull that blanky away from her and wash it. But when it is covered with remnants of food and dirt, yeah, we have to wash it too. She doesn't cry, but asks for it and begs for it every 5 minutes... and that's annoying!! Help us when it's time to wean them...

Annette it is all your fault he does like it because of you. And I did try to buy him another blanket to console him but he wants only that one!

Dear Aunt Net,

John and I request that you please not give our baby a blanket so that we can avoid this problems at all costs.

Love,

Becka & John
